Slough win the Bucks Bowl 2016...

...beating Drifters in a match that was nail biting to the very end with a draw at full time and a penalty kick off to determine the winner- the first in the history of the competition!

Drifters made a quick start by getting an early try which they successfully converted for a 7-0 lead within minutes of kick off.

Pressure from Slough saw Drifters give away a penalty next and a quick tap from James Flisher took Slough closer to the line where Tom Young popped the ball to Robbie Morrison who scythed through the defence to score in the corner. Conversion missed 7-5.

After some brutal phases in the middle of the pitch, Slough conceded a penalty and Drifters slotted the kick to further their lead, 10 – 5.

Another penalty and Slough went for territory. A catch and drive from the lineout saw James Flisher get over the line but the try was held up and a scrum awarded to Slough. Drifters gave away 4 penalties from the scrum and eventually the referee had no choice but to award a penalty try. Max Miles successfully kicked the extras to take the lead however Slough then conceded a penalty and Drifters didn't waste their opportunity to edge ahead just before the half time whistle. 13 – 12.

Drifters re-applied the pressure straight away in the second half but two penalties in quick succession saw Slough regain the lead 13-18.

A huge run and excellent handling saw Drifters level up next before a fast paced 10 minutes led to both teams scoring again to take the score to 25-25 at full time and a sudden death shoot out to determine the winner.

Both kickers cleared the first round of kicks in front of the posts on the 22 however the second round taken from the 15 metre line to the left of the posts on the 22 saw the Drifters kicker miss while Slough Captain Max Miles sent the ball sailing straight through the posts for a thrilling win and silverware for the Greenies.
