New Slough RFC Chairman, Nick Hoon, was recently invited to open a musical trail at Arbour Vale School,

a special school situated on the outskirts of Slough which provides education for approximately 250 pupils between 3 and 19 years old who have moderate, severe profound or multiple learning difficulties.

Invited by Rugby charity Wooden Spoon, Nick Hoon and Slough RFC County Rep, Ray Gagnon, had a tour of the school and met staff and pupils before opening the new Wooden Spoon Musical trail.

Nick Hoon said afterwards that he had had a wonderful but humbling day. ‘All the children were so happy and the staff and parents do a marvellous job, often under extremely difficult circumstances to meet the children's various needs. It really was an enlightening day and an absolute pleasure to give something back to the community.’

The Wooden Spoon Charity aims to positively transform the lives of disadvantaged and disabled children and young people across the UK and Ireland through the power of rugby. From sensory rooms, specialist playgrounds and sports activity areas to respite, medical and community care, the charity funds around 70 projects each year that support disadvantaged and disabled children.
