Many thanks to everyone that came along to our 12th annual Slough Sevens Tournament this weekend...

I'm sure you'll agree it was a fantastic day. A big thank you and well done to Ben and his team for organising it!

Slough Rugby Club welcomed 32 teams and in excess of 350 rugby players to its grounds in Upton Court Park for the 12th annual Slough 7s Peter Crockford Memorial Tournament on Saturday. A new format saw the creation of a three tier competition for 2016 with teams entering an Elite, Beer or Junior competition.

Oxfam Crusaders won the 10 team Elite section, facing stiff opposition from Cobra 7s, Smugglers 7s, Apache Braves and Reeds Weybridge in their pool before edging ISC Tornados out by just two points in the final.

Three local clubs were among the 16 teams that entered the inaugural Beer Competition, set up in memory of club stalwart Colin Pocock who passed away earlier this year.
Host club Slough met Honey Badger 7s, Forest Old Boys and East India Club in pool 1, recording one win and two losses.
Drifters, in pool 2, had wins over Peanut Chasers, Trouser Snakes and Hugh Gumbs Green Army before bowing out to eventual Beer Competition winners High Wycombe in the semi-final.
Phoenix, in pool 3, had a narrow win against Buckingham Rangers but posted losses against McDermott Hawk & Trowel and Hammersmith & Fulham.

Maidenhead Stags won the Junior Tournament after wins against teams from Slough, Rosslyn Park, Windsor and Redingensians.

Rugby 7s fans started arriving on Friday night in preparation for the Club’s biggest 7s event to date and as well as rugby this year were able to enjoy a small selection of stalls, bouncy castles and a hot tub area whilst in the evening local band Herschel West and DJ Clint Tee provided entertainment.

Tournament Organiser and Director of Rugby at Slough RFC, Ben Harris, hailed the day as a great success adding that it was great fun and got bigger and better every year.
