Slough v Didcot

Slough record second win on the bounce in a game of two halves

An eventful start saw play stopped for a Slough injury within 5 minutes however player and team recovered well and went on to dominate the next 15 minutes, forcing two penalties which Max Miles booted over with ease. (6-0)

Good running from Slough and Didcot took both teams to the line a number of times but each failed to capitalise on their chances- a close call for the home team at one point as a clearance kick was blocked and rolled back over the line. Kev Dunne quickly touched it down before it escalated into points.

A fumbled pass saw a loose ball but a nice grubber through Didcot’s defence saw Miles take it over to score. Unfortunately he missed the extras (11-0)

The visitors retaliated with a period of pressure which tested the Greenies defence until they broke through to put the ball down in the corner. Converted (11-7)

Robbie Morrison immediately replied, running the ball straight through several visiting players to score. Unconverted. (16-7)

HT: Slough 16 – 7 Didcot

A confident Slough returned after the break and just two minutes in Robbie completely slaughtered the visiting defence with his second try of the day. Conversion successful. (23-7)

Immediately Didcot tried to replicate the move, unsuccessfully, however multiple good plays kept them on the Slough line until a driving maul from a line-out took them over to score. Converted (23-14)

A buoyed up Didcot finished the next few Slough runs in thumping hard tackles before running the ball in for another score. Converted ( 23-21)

Keeping the pressure on, Didcot next forced a penalty which they duly converted to give them a narrow lead (23-24)

Slough, now on the back foot, regrouped and started to relentlessly attack the visitor’s line until a nice move from Joe Sole helped James Flisher go over to regain the lead. Converted. (30-24)
