Sat. 12 January - Marlow v Slough - A404 Marlow Bypass CLOSED

MARLOW FOOTBRIDGE: Drivers urged to plan ahead of A404 closure as Volvo footbridge to be 'restored to its former glory'

Drivers are being urged to plan ahead this weekend as the A404 is set to close again during the reinstallation of a major footbridge into Marlow.

Highways England has been carrying out essential maintenance to the Volvo footbridge, which includes repairs to the staircases and repainting work.

It was taken away at the beginning of September last year for the work to be carried out off-site, with the A404 closed in both directions between the junction with the A4155, just outside Marlow, and the Bisham roundabout.

It will be reinstalled between 9pm on Friday, January 11, and 5am on Monday, January 14, during which time the A404 will be closed again.

There will be separate diversions in place for long distance and local traffic, and Parkway, which runs parallel with the A404, will also be closed for short periods this weekend for safety reasons, while lifting operations take place.

Highways England route sponsor John Henderson said: “By renovating the footbridge off-site we have avoided months of roadworks on the A404, and we have planned the work to remove and reinstall the footbridge to cause minimum disruption.

“However, there is likely to be some congestion in the area and we urge all road users to plan their journey in advance and leave extra time if necessary, and to please follow the signed diversion.

“We are looking forward to reopening the footbridge soon – we know that it has been missed and that many local people are looking forward to seeing this well used structure restored to its former glory at the heart of the community.”

Also worth noting that Marlow RFC now advertise...….
