Slough U8s @ London Irish St Patricks Day Festival
First festival experience for new team
Slough RFC U8s attended the annual London Irish St Patricks Day festival at the weekend where the emphasis was very much on Rugby’s Core Values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship. The U8s had a great time in their first festival event where they played 5 games before heading to the Madejski Stadium to watch London Irish v Gloucester.
Slough made a promising start to the festival with an early try for Caleb against Oakmedians in the first match. Oakmedians quickly replied with two of their own before Jayden crossed the line to equalise. Some good tagging and defence from both sides saw the two teams edge to and fro before another score each in the final moments ended the game 3-3.
Up against Tadley next the young Greenies played well with some mazy runs and good hands, Hayden and Jad crossing the whitewash in another close finish, whilst a brace for Caleb finished the third game a draw against Aldershot.
Portsmouth proved to be the stronger team in the fourth match, taking charge from the off and running in 4 tries to Slough’s 1 however the team rallied well from the disappointment and put in a good shift for their final match of the day- Harvey, Haidar and Sky providing great support whilst Ali added to the score-sheet in a narrow 4-3 loss against Oakmedians.
Slough RFC U8s are currently recruiting players! All boys and girls in school year 3 are welcome and no experience is necessary. Check our fixtures list and join us at our next training session or email firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
